Tribute to Mrs. Darlene Shoe

Our hearts are deeply saddened by the loss of Darlene Shoe. Mrs. Shoe was a devoted teacher, mentor, colleague, and friend to all who knew her over the 28 years she served in Hoxie High School. During that time, she served as Senior Class Sponsor, Yearbook Editor, Personnel Policy Committee Chairwoman, Sick Bank Committee Member, Student Handbook Committee, and was Department Chair of the Career and Technical Education. Mrs. Shoe genuinely cared about Hoxie High School as she attended school board meetings on a regular basis. She also planned many seniors' award banquets as well as designed exceptional programs for various events throughout the years. Mrs. Shoe was voted "Teacher of the Year" by her colleagues.

Mrs. Shoe not only loved the staff, but she also loved and cared for the students dearly. She taught business classes and was one of the first in the state to offer medical office professions. She was a Microsoft Office expert, helping students and staff daily. Mrs. Shoe certified seniors in ACT WorkKeys so that they would be prepared for their future job opportunities. She always encouraged students to work hard and be the best they could be. Mrs. Shoe empowered students and staff to stand up for what they believe in. In the summer, you would often find Mrs. Shoe working in her classroom and working on the yearbook.

Mrs. Shoe had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her, especially her friends here at Hoxie High School.  Continued prayers for her family during this difficult time.
