Joseph Curtis

Mr. Joseph Curtis began his love for music as a young boy watching his father play the trumpet.  Since that time, his commitment and dedication to both music and teaching has grown, culminating in a Bachelor's of Arts in Music and a Master's in Trumpet Performance from Arkansas State University.  During his tenure, he was blessed to perform in various capacities with many student ensembles, including brass quintets, trumpet ensemble, marching and pep bands, brass choir, percussion ensemble, and several jazz combos.  While in graduate school, Mr. Curtis served concurrently as Lead Trumpet in the Jazz Band under Dr. Ron Horton and Principal Trumpet in the Wind Ensemble under Dr. Tim Oliver, assisting with Marching Band and Pep Band.

Mr. Curtis is also an avid composer and arranger.  His most recent original compositions, “October Again” and “Thornbriar Rhapsody” were premiered by the Delta Jazz Workshop Faculty Big Band and the Arkansas State University Wind Ensemble, respectively.

Outside interests for Mr. Curtis include reading, video gaming, and attending Arkansas State athletic events.
