I was born in St. Louis, MO, but my family moved to Walnut Ridge, AR when I was 2 years old. This has been my home for 54 years. I graduated from Wanut Ridge High School in 1977 and married my husband of 32 years in 1983. I have 2 children and 2 grandchildren that I adore. My children graduated from Hoxie High School and it is my hope that my grandchildren will also.
It took a while to finish my degree because I was busy raising my children. I received my BSE in Physical Education in 1996 and my MSE in Educational Leadership in 2011. I have taught K-6 Physical Education and coached high school volleyball for 19 years at Hoxie. I also coached softball for 8 years, which I had to give up to spend more time with my grandchildren, a decision that I have never regretted.
The volleyball program at Hoxie High School has always been competitive. We work on teamwork and leadership skills as well as volleyball skills. We have seen many state tournament appearances and even made it to the state finals in 2001. Hoxie also won the state title in 2002 in softball.
I began teaching because I believe that each child has the ability to learn skills and activities that will keep them active and healthy for a lifetime. I focus on nutrition and healthy food choices, but I also teach a wide variety of activities and skills that are fun and the children love!
It is always a pleasure to see students so excited about physical activity and I believe that I have the best job at Hoxie Schools!
