I am a non traditional teacher. I did not go to college until I was 33 and my youngest child was in pre-school. I have taught in Illinois, Indiana, and now in Arkansas. Arkansas is my home. I was born and raised in Paragould. This will be my 9th year at Hoxie. I taught 6th grade for 4 years, fourth grade for 1, and this is my fourth year in the 5th grade.
Math has alway been my favorite subject. It's like playing games all day. I love a challenge. I want to make it as enjoyable to my students. It's a lot like a sport. You have to practice to get better and to become a pro. My favorite thing is to see the light bulbs come on when my students understand it and begin to have fun too.
When I'm not at school, I stay busy with my church and my family. My husband, Doran and I have three beautiful daughters and six grandchildren.
I am proud to say I teach at Hoxie Elementary.
